Deep in the heart of Texas!

My time back in Texas has been busy and three months has flown by.
Interestingly enough the first outing when I arrived in Texas was a weekend at Nascar. The "boy", as he is fondly referred to by his father and me, turned 30 in October and we celebrated at the car races which is probably in his top three favorite places to be. It was a hell of an introduction to being back in the States.

It was good to have my tribe all in one place. In a blink of an eye my children have morphed into these great adults! Thank you Jesus! There were times in their adolescence that had me panicking about their adulthood.

I was able to take a few more trips before the end of year. I flew to Boise, ID for Thanksgiving to visit Zach and see his new house.

I also had the chance to visit my elderly aunt and uncle in Ashville, NC. Aunt Jayne turned 96 while I was there. I was so glad to have visited with them and with two of my cousins who had made the trip to celebrate their mother's birthday.

We had a great time reminiscing, enjoying some good meals together and even had a chance to see the Christmas lights at the North Carolina Arboretum. I love that place!!
My first visit to the NC Arboretum the last time I visited Ashville was in the Spring when all the plants were in full bloom it was amazing! I would love to someday volunteer at Botanical garden or an Arboretum somewhere in the world.

I've spent quite a bit of time with Porter. Porter is 5 years old and is all about "him". It's what he should be doing, recognizing himself as an individual human being and discovering free will but it can be exhausting for him and the people around him. We've had some great adventures, oh to be 5 yrs old again! Full of wonderment at the world around us. We should all be so lucky! I am excited to watch him come into his own and I can't wait until he gets old enough to come explore the world with me!

I've enjoyed hanging out with friends and family and checked off most of my "to do" list for the USA. Aaron, Paige and Porter have graciously hosted me for the past 3 months and shared their home with me but I am ready to start my year of travel!
2021 has been a year of transition and letting go of career, home and my stuff. I still miss my little house at the edge of the woods in Switzerland and all my friends every day.
I have moments when a sense of panic and doubt creep into my psyche about the journey I've decided to embarked on but then I think about a destination I will visit in the near future and I am filled with excitement at the prospect of experiencing a new culture, people and food! As long as that sense of excitement continues to fuel my journey, I will continue to explore.
I hope that everyone finds what fuels their journey in the coming year and I wish all a good start in 2022!
